THE PURPOSE
Sometimes the most important thing a family needs is the ability to say, “Yes, we can take the next step.”
Our goal is to help eligible families access serious veterinary diagnostics and treatment without forcing financial circumstances to become the only factor determining what happens next.

When a family needs to understand what is happening before they can make an informed decision, assistance may support medically appropriate diagnostic care.

HOW IT WILL WORK
Designed to put assistance toward the animal's care.
Our grant process is still being finalized. The intended model is straightforward: families apply, veterinary providers help verify the medical circumstances and proposed care, and approved assistance is paid directly toward eligible veterinary services.
Family applies.
Financial need and the animal's circumstances are reviewed.
Veterinary care is verified.
The diagnosis or diagnostic concern, recommended next step and expected benefit are documented.
Assistance is reviewed.
Requests are considered under the Foundation's eligibility and grantmaking standards.
Approved funds support care.
Assistance is intended to be paid directly to the veterinary provider.
OUR FOCUS
Serious care, not routine expenses.
The Foundation is being created for consequential medical circumstances where access to diagnostics or treatment could meaningfully affect the options available to an animal and family.
Not initially intended for
Routine vaccinations, grooming, elective procedures, breeding-related expenses, or ordinary wellness and preventive care.
Final eligibility requirements will be published before the assistance program opens.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Nala had every option available to her. Her legacy will be helping make those options available to others.
We cannot promise every family a different ending than ours. We can work to give families the opportunity to pursue medically reasonable options and make decisions based on what is best for the animal they love.
